Well I have managed to shift house... I am now a TOWNIE!
After 20 years of country living. Wasn't the best of days, the movers dropped the furniture on my new front lawn, the settlement didn't go through, the tropical fish were getting cold, the cat was sulking in a cage, the rain started to creep up on us and I stayed really calm.... Yeah right!

Luckily 4.35pm settlement went through on Friday afternoon and were allowed in the house, mates and family arrived and we were in the house eating fish n chips in an hour and a half! Whew what a day!!

Lots coming up over the next few months - 2 shows (Wellington and Tauranga, a bus tour, heaps of classes, a school holiday programme, a wedding (my spare daughters!) and Christmas looming ever closer.

TALES OF US- scrapbooking page with Sharon

Hi everyone

Sharon here with another mixed media scrapbooking page for you to look at.

In this layout, I used a photo of my daughter with her new husband .

I was inspired by the cathedral window chipboard piece , and it was the perfect size to layer over the top of their wedding photo. I foiled the window in gold, then sanded some of the foil away to make it look a little "less clean". I then layered over the top of this photo assembly, the floral corner which I had painted white, then added prima mica powder to the flowers to give them a little sparkly colour.

The next step was to find a paper to work with the photos, and I luckily had the recent prima collection “tales of us” in my stash. I loved that the images in the paper are almost echoed in the chipboard piece I used at the left of the page. This cut is so very fine and delicate, it suited my page just perfectly.

Thanks for looking

Imagine If Birdcage - Ngaere

My latest project uses a gorgeous chipboard bird cage from Imagine If. I got so carried away with making it I actually didn't take a lot of work in progress photographs. Here is the finished project.

I began with the bare birdcage which I painted with black gesso. Once the gesso was dry I drybrushed the cage with Rusty Paper paint and Lumiere brass paint. I then sprayed it with Lindy's Stamp Gang gold shimmer spray.

Once the cage was painted I draped the back and top of the cage with muslin dipped in Powertex which I then painted in the same manner I had painted the cage.

From there I added on a chipboard flourish and chipboard leaves and flowers and leaves from Imagine If until I was happy with the way it looked. I added a wooden piece to the top, (I think this came off an old wooden paper towel holder).

Then I had to find something to put inside the cage. So having no birds in my stash I decided to put a little fairy inside.  I altered a small plastic doll I had found at a garage sale. I made her a dress out of muslin, gave her some butterfly wings and placed her in the cage.

I then glued the cage to an altered candlestick and added some beads around the edge of the cage and the project was finished. I hope this project has given you some inspiration to create your own masterpiece and remember that all the materials can be obtained from Jo at Imagine If.

Bye Bye Biplane - Ngaere

I am excited to bring you this project using an MDF biplane designed by the clever folks at Imagine If. I decided to make an altered tin incorporating some of the chipboard pieces and using a faux rust paint technique.

Here is the place before it was assembled.  I know it looks a lot of pieces but it is really easy to put together and due to the precision of the cutting everything slots together really easily.

I covered the wings with pieces of aluminium tape and ran over the joins with a fabric marker wheel to make the broken lines.

I painted the assembled place with black gesso.

I then found an old tin and painted it with black gesso. Then I used a combination of black, brown, orange and red paint to give a rusted appearance to the plane.

I added some circles and stars to the wings and tail of the plane.

I then found an old tin and painted it with black gesso.

I layered tissue paper on the tin, spread coarse texture paste randomly over the top of the tissue paper then added large gears from Imagine If and a diecut. I spread coarse texture paste over the gears and then I used coarse texture paste through a stencil to give more dimension.

I used the same combination of black, brown and orange acrylic paint on the tin to give a rusted, aged appearance.

I created a broken asphalt runway on the top of the tin using texure paste and black acrylic paint.  The grass poking through is from a piece of flower arrangement.  The effect I was gong for was a rusted, neglected plane left abandoned on a runway.
Anyway this was a great masculine piece to make and I hope it inspires you to try making a project with the gorgeous little biplane from Imagine If.

Configuration Butterfly

Here is my latest DT project for Imagine If using some a configuration box and some of their gorgeous chipboard and I am warning everyone there is not a cog or gear in sight for a change.

I began by painting one of the configuration boxes from Imagine if with black gesso.
Then using a Kaisercraft die I cut out the brickwork which I glued into the individual boxes. I added some texure in random spots and on the edges of the box then I painted everything with the Finnabair Art Alchemy    paint. Then I used gel medium to adhere some red glass glitter from Finnabair and some green micro beads.

I then took the following pieces of chipboard and painted them all with black gesso.
I used Emerald Viva Inka Gold on the leaves.

These two pieces are part of the framed fern set.

After this was painted black I then painted it with yellow acrylic paint.

The smaller frame was painted black then covered with Viva Inka Gold Orange

Upright Swirl Flourish
I cut off the top piece of the flourish, painted it black then covered it with Viva Inka Gold copper and did the same thing with the top of the butterfly/garden border piece.

I painted some chipboard letters with Old Paper crackle paint and glued the words into the configuration box and then I added in a couple of Prima embellishments to add some interest.

I initially layered the leaves and the frames on the top of the configuration box but it looked a bit bare so I decided to add the words.
I attached everything using gel medium and then I die cut a Tim Holtz butterfly, painted it using a mixture of the colours I had used in the other elements and then attached the butterfly in the middle of the piece.

I love the soft lacy look of the chipboard and the visual depth given by using the configuration box rather than a flat canvas.  I hope this little project inspires you to do something creative with some of the fabulous Imagine If chipboard.
